Isopods for Sale UK

Browse live isopods for sale in the UK and compare species by genus, setup style, visibility, and keeper experience. This is the main shop hub if you know you want isopods but are still deciding between a practical first colony, a more visible display option, a tropical specialist, or a collector-focused species.

Choose by keeping goal

The best isopod is usually the one that matches your enclosure and the behaviour you want to observe. Some species are easier to read because they move between hides, feeding spots, leaf litter, and drier areas more openly. Others spend more time under bark, cork, moss, or damp cover, so success is judged by steady settling, litter use, and healthy enclosure balance rather than constant surface activity.

• First colony: start with beginner isopods if you want a more forgiving browsing route before moving into specialist groups.
• Humid tropical setups: compare tropical isopods if you are prepared to manage stable moisture, cover, and airflow together.
• Visible behaviour: browse display isopods if your priority is easier observation around cover, food, and surface routes.
• Bioactive use: see bioactive clean-up crew isopods if you are choosing isopods for a planted or reptile enclosure and want a more suitable starting point.

Compare genera before narrowing down

Genus can make the range easier to understand. Cubaris isopods are often chosen for unusual tropical forms and quieter, cover-led behaviour. Armadillidium isopods are usually more readable roller-type isopods that do well with airflow, cover, and a clear damp-to-drier pattern. Porcellio isopods often appeal to keepers who want stronger surface movement and a more obvious feeding response. Ardentiella isopods are better suited to keepers who enjoy bark, cork, raised surfaces, and more structured tropical setups.

What to prepare before buying isopods

Most isopods need more than a damp tub and occasional fresh food. A good enclosure should provide cover, a reliable food-and-shelter layer, a usable moisture pattern, and enough airflow to avoid stale conditions. The exact balance depends on the genus and species, so avoid assuming every listing in this collection will want the same setup.

If you are still preparing the enclosure, the isopod habitat setup guide is the best next step. For broader care and comparison help, use the isopod species guide or the popular pet isopod species guide before choosing a more specialist listing.

Browse the full live isopod range

This collection works well for comparing the whole live isopod range in one place. Use the filters and product pages to check each listing’s care expectations, likely visibility, and setup fit before buying. If you already know your goal, a narrower collection such as beginner, tropical, display, bioactive, or genus-specific isopods will usually make the choice quicker.
