Armadillidium Isopods for Sale UK

Browse Armadillidium isopods for sale in the UK if you want roller-type isopods that are often easier to read than many hidden tropical groups. They are usually seen using leaf litter, bark edges, hides, and the route between a damp refuge and a drier covered area, while still needing secure cover rather than constant open exposure.

Why keepers choose Armadillidium

Armadillidium are best known for rolling into a ball when disturbed, but their day-to-day enclosure use is the more useful buying signal. A settled colony often gives clearer feedback than more secretive genera because you can see movement around cover, feeding areas, and the moisture gradient.

They are not all identical, and not every listing should be treated as beginner-proof. Species can differ in boldness, size, pattern, and tolerance, so compare the individual product page before buying.

Best setup style for Armadillidium

Most Armadillidium do better in an enclosure that offers fresh air, cover, and choice. Aim for a reliable moist refuge, drier ground that is still protected by litter or hides, and enough structure for the colony to move without being exposed.

• Cork bark or flat hides create shaded resting places and covered edges.
• Leaf litter and rot wood support background grazing between feeds.
• A calcium source such as cuttlebone can help keep mineral access available without replacing a varied food base.
• A wet, sealed tub is usually less useful than a balanced enclosure with a damp refuge and breathable cover.

How to compare Armadillidium

Use this collection if you want a genus that often feels more straightforward to observe than Cubaris, Laureola, or other quieter tropical groups. Compare listings by size, pattern, visible behaviour, and how much enclosure feedback you want from the colony.

If you are choosing your first colony, beginner isopods gives a broader route across suitable starting points. If you want a more active, often larger-bodied comparison, browse Porcellio isopods as well.

Product routes to compare

Use the listings in this collection to compare classic Armadillidium shapes, colours, and setup notes. If you want a distinctive example to review alongside the rest of the range, compare Armadillidium Hauseni Triceratops with the other species shown here.

Before you choose

This collection is a good fit for keepers who can provide airflow, cover, and a usable damp-to-drier pattern. It is less suited to setups that are bare, sealed, or kept evenly wet throughout.
