Enclosure Ventilation ⁽⁶⁾

Adding a mesh-covered opening, narrowing existing tub openings or fitting a different wall thickness? Choose ventilation fittings around the job your enclosure needs. For isopod tubs, millipede enclosures and other invertebrate setups, start with our guide to planning enclosure ventilation: airflow and substrate moisture need to work together, and increasing air exchange can also mean faster drying.

Fine or coarse mesh inserts

Our PETG push-fit inserts come with mesh already fitted and seat in a prepared 45mm hole in an enclosure wall up to 3mm thick. Choose fine-mesh vents for finer screening with a more restricted airflow path, or coarse-mesh vents when freer air exchange is the priority. Neither mesh name establishes containment for your smallest animals or hatchlings; the opening size matters for that choice.

Both inserts have a 50mm front flange and an assembled depth of 20mm, so allow space around and behind the opening. Packs contain 10, 20 or 40 fitted vents for your enclosure projects; pack quantity is not a recommendation for how many one enclosure needs. Make any new openings with animals and substrate removed, then monitor substrate moisture after changing ventilation.

Existing Braplast openings or a custom fitting?

3L Braplast opening-reduction plugs narrow the existing ventilation openings in current-version 3-litre Braplast tubs while leaving a path for air. These PLA friction-fit plugs serve a different job from adding mesh inserts. Packs contain 50, 100 or 200 individual plugs; count the openings you intend to narrow across your tubs when choosing a quantity.

For a different hole size or thicker enclosure wall, enquire about custom vents with your measurements. Custom vents are quoted to order, with a minimum order of 25 units.
