Vietnam Ducky Pill Millipede (Hyleoglomeris lobus)

The Vietnam Ducky Pill Millipede (Hyleoglomeris lobus) is a Vietnamese Hyleoglomeris described from Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh, northern Vietnam. Its contrasting dark-and-yellow pattern gives it a distinctive appearance, while the scientific name keeps this animal separate from other “ducky” pill millipedes found in the hobby.

These two pill millipedes can look related at first glance because both show strong dark-and-yellow contrast, but they should not be treated as the same species. Hyleoglomeris lobus was described from Vietnam, while Hyleoglomeris bomba was described from Thailand. Published H. bomba specimens show broad yellow bands against a dark body, producing a stronger bumblebee-like pattern. The published description of H. lobus instead records yellow edging and a thin medial yellow line on its otherwise black anal shield.
