Jollibee Springtails are a specialist Neanuridae culture for keepers who can maintain living slime mould as the main food source. They are not a general-purpose springtail colony, but they can be a very rewarding choice if you want a more specific feeding relationship and can keep the food source healthy.

Compared with standard springtails that will often do well on a wider mix of decaying organics and surface microfilms, this culture is more tightly tied to one feeding route. That makes it most suitable for keepers who already work with slime mould or want to compare specialist Neanuridae options before choosing a culture. For a broader overview of the group, see our Springtail Types & Species Guide. You can also compare this culture with other options in our Springtails for Sale UK collection, or read more about the feeding relationship in Do Springtails Eat Slime Mould?.

Feeding this springtail culture

For Jollibee Springtails, the key food source is living slime mould. That is the main point to understand before buying: this culture is maintained by keeping that living food available, not by relying on broad supplemental feeding.

Because of that, the real test is whether you can keep the slime mould healthy enough for the springtails to use. If the food source is active, the culture has a much better chance of settling and remaining productive. If it declines, the springtails are likely to lose their feed base too.

What to offer and what to watch

Alongside the food source, the culture still needs the basics done well: steady moisture, some air exchange and a clean, stable microhabitat. A damp surface with enough texture for the colony to move through is usually more useful than a heavily managed setup.

What to watch most closely is freshness. The culture should stay moist, active and free from stale or waterlogged conditions. If the food source dries too quickly, breaks down oddly fast, or the culture starts to smell sour, those are signs to adjust moisture or airflow rather than simply add more springtails.

Other signs that something needs changing include:

  • springtails becoming less visible or less active
  • slime mould no longer holding well in the culture
  • stagnant or overly wet conditions developing
  • unwanted mould or decomposition spreading beyond the intended area

In practice, this culture suits keepers who prefer to monitor the food source and the microhabitat together. If you can keep the living slime mould healthy and the setup stable, Jollibee Springtails can be a distinctive specialist culture rather than a standard maintenance colony.
