Ceratophysella isabellae Lilac springtails

This counted culture is a good choice if you want springtails with a muted lilac to lavender look rather than a brighter yellow or white form. The colour is the main reason to choose it, especially if you are comparing it with other Ceratophysella isabellae cultures and want something a little different for a bioactive enclosure or culture setup.

These springtails are small and compact, with a short segmented body and paler legs and antennae. The lilac tone can look softer or more bluish-purple depending on lighting and background, so darker surfaces usually make the colour easier to notice.

This culture is intended for setups that already suit springtails: a humid area, organic surfaces and enough airflow to avoid stale conditions. It also needs living slime mould as part of its diet, so it is best chosen by keepers who are prepared for that requirement rather than by anyone looking for a general-purpose feeder culture.

Like other springtails, they are used to support damp microhabitats by grazing on fungi, biofilm and fine organic material. In a living enclosure, that means they can help keep the smallest food sources moving through the system, but they do not replace regular husbandry and they will not solve every mould issue on their own.

If you are building a bioactive enclosure, springtails can sit alongside other detritivores as part of the wider clean-up community. For keepers who want to feed or maintain a culture separately, a dedicated food source is worth having ready before the colony is introduced. Springtail Food and Culture Supplies

Choose this culture if you want a counted springtail culture with a lilac appearance and you are happy to match it to the right setup. If you are mainly looking for a brighter colour form, another Ceratophysella isabellae option may suit you better.
